First Ophir deepwater well unsuccessful offshore Ghana

Ophir Energy has terminated its first deepwater exploration well offshore Ghana.

LONDON – Ophir Energy has terminated its first deepwater exploration well offshore Ghana.

The drillshipStena DrillMax drilled Starfish-1 in the offshore Accra contract area offshore Ghana in the frontier Keta basin in 1,490 m (4,888 ft) of water, to a TD of 4,348 m (14,265 ft) subsea.

Wireline logging confirmed water-wet sands in both targeted intervals. The rig has since been released.
