LONDON Perenco UK has discovered gas with a new well at the Ravenspurn South Field in the UK southern North Sea.

The C06 well proved gas in a previously undrilled fault block downdip of the producing field.

It was the third well of this campaign this year using the jackup Valaris-247, following the successful Ravenspurn North sidetracks, D15 and D16, currently delivering 30 MMscf/d.

C06 penetrated a 90-m section of fully gas-bearing Lower Leman sandstone in the Rotliegend Formation, with reservoir properties in line with the field’s other nearby producers.

Perenco anticipates base production rates of about 12 MMcf/d (2,000 boe/d), with the find also adding incremental reserves of 21 Bcf.

Following completion, the well will be stimulated with support from the Petrodec ERDA jackup barge. The produced gas will be exported via the Cleeton hub to Perenco’s Dimlington terminal on the English east coast.
