    Equinor keeps Odfjell rig for further North Sea well

    Equinor has exercised an option with Odfjell Drilling to retain the semisubmersible Deepsea Stavanger for an additional well in the North Sea.

    ABERDEEN, UK – Equinor has exercised an option with Odfjell Drilling to retain the semisubmersible Deepsea Stavanger for an additional well in the North Sea.

    This was a continued optionality mechanism inserted in the contract in May 2020, as part of the master frame agreement between the two companies.

    Drilling will start after the rig has completed the three-well campaign that is expected to start in 1Q 2022.

    The rig is now expected to be occupied into 3Q 2022. The commercial value for the additional well is about $20 million.
