Eni contracts Saipem rigs for two drilling campaigns

Saipem has signed an agreement with Eni to provide the drillship Saipem 10000 for a program in the Mediterranean Sea.

SAN DONATO MILANESE, ItalySaipem has signed an agreement with Eni to provide the drillship Saipem 10000 for a program in the Mediterranean Sea, the company revealed in its latest results statement.

The new drillship Santorini, which will join Saipem’s fleet in November, will take on the contract currently held by the Saipem 10000 for operations in the US Gulf of Mexico.

In addition, Eni Angola has contracted the semisubmersible Scarabeo 9 for three firm and three optional wells in Angolan waters.

In April, TotalEnergies declared force majeure on the Mozambique LNG project for security reasons. Saipem evacuated the site but continued to manage remaining project activities outside of the country that are not subject to suspension.

The company and the client also assessed measures to ensure a prompt re-start once safety has been restored to the area.
