SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Eni has successfully appraised and tested the Maha gas discovery in the West Ganal block offshore Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The location is 16 km (9.9 mi) southeast of the company’s Jangkrik FPU.

The Maha-2 well, drilled in 1,115 m (3,658 ft) water depth, encountered 43 m (141 ft) of gas-bearing net sands in Pliocene reservoirs, with the production test delivering flow rates of up to 34 MMcf/d.

Eni will use the test and coring data in its studies for the field development plan, and plans to drill two further appraisal wells.

The most likely outcome is a subsea completion and tie-in to the Jangkrik FPU.

Other partners in the West Ganal block are Neptune Energy and Pertamina.
