VANCOUVER, Canada – Odfjell Drilling’s semisubmersible Deepsea Stavanger should spud the Luiperd-1 exploration well offshore South Africa later this month.

According to Africa Energy Corp., the rig is currently in Cape Town having sailed from Norway last month.

The company is a partner to Total in block 11B/12B.

According to President and CEO Garrett Soden, Luiperd is the largest prospect in the Paddavissie Fairway and has been de-risked by the partners’ nearby Brulpadda gas/condensate discovery and subsequent analysis of the fully-processed Polarcus 3D dataset.

In addition, the expanded Shearwater 2D seismic survey is complete, with onboard fast-track processing identifying prospectivity with seismic indicators across the new Kloofpadda Play Trend to the east.

PGS’ 3D seismic survey is also complete, having been expanded to cover a newly identified potential northern extension to Luiperd, a large submarine fan prospect within the same sequence as Brulpadda.
