MELBOURNE, AustraliaCue Energy expects the Diamond Offshore semisubmersible Ocean Apex to spud the Ironbark-1 well offshore Western Australia by late 2020.

Ironbark is a potentially large gas prospect in the Carnarvon basin in the WA-359 permit. BP is the operator - Beach Energy and New Zealand Oil & Gas have options to join the partnership.

Following submission of the environment plan for the well to Australian regulatory authority NOPSEMA, the report has been released for public comment.

Reprocessing of seismic data over Ironbark in WA-409-P is under way. The same applies to the southern part of the WA-389-P concession (Cue 100%) to the west, in order to delineate a Deep Mungaroo structure.

Further planned studies here include quantitative geophysical analysis of a Jurassic seismic amplitude play and a review of the existing charge model and sequence stratigraphy for both the Deep Mungaroo and Jurassic plays.
