Aaser takes chair at Det norske

Svein Aaser has been elected chairman of the Board of Det norske oljeselskap in succession to Kjell Inge Røkke.

TRONDHEIM, Norway -- Svein Aaser has been elected chairman of the Board of Det norske oljeselskap in succession to Kjell Inge Røkke.

Aaser has been CEO of various companies in Norway, and is currently chairman of Statkraft and of the Ski World Cup 2011.

At the company’s general meeting, CEO Erik Haugane said Det norske aimed to submit development plans this year for the Draupne and Jetta discoveries in the North Sea.

As for exploration, the company will drill various Norwegian offshore prospects this year, including Krafla, Aldous, and Skalle.
