ABERDEEN, UK -- Azerbaijan International Operating Co. has contracted drilling facilities designer RDS for the Chirag Oil Project (COP) “Execute” phase in the Caspian Sea.
The COP development involves installing a production, drilling, and quarters platforms in the Chirag - Deep Water Gunashli (DWG) area of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field, in a water depth of around 170 m (58 ft). This will be the sixth production platform on the ACG oil field.
Pending project sanction, RDS’ work scope will include detail design, follow-on engineering, and construction and commissioning support.
An integrated project team of 53 engineers and designers will be based in Leatherhead, UK, climbing eventually to 70. The program is due to run through 2013.
