BAKU, Azerbaijan – bp has started drilling the first production well from the new Azeri Central East (ACE) platform in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, part of the Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli (ACG) field development.

The planned TD is up to 3,188 m, with operations expected to continue around three months, followed by first oil in 1Q 2024.

The 48-slot production, drilling and quarters platform is the centerpiece of the $6-billion ACE project and is located between the existing Central Azeri and East Azeri platforms in a water depth of137 m. It is designed to process up to 100,000 b/d of oil and should produce up to 300 MMbbl over its lifespan.

New infield pipelines will transfer oil and gas from the ACE platform to the existing ACG Phase 2 oil and gas export pipelines for delivery to the onshore Sangachal terminal.

In addition, a water injection pipeline between the East Azeri and ACE platforms will supply injection water from the Central Azeri compression and water injection platform to the ACE facilities.
