MASSY CEDEX, France -- Vyborg Shipyard in Russia and Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea have ordered power optimization solutions from Converteam for two offshore semisubmersible drilling rigs.

Converteam will provide power, propulsion, distribution, vessel automation, and thruster assisted mooring systems to the first two CS-50 ice class rigs for the Shtokman gas field.

Converteam will use its MV7000 medium voltage PWM frequency converters for the rig thruster drive system and will use its marine class medium voltage switchgear, compact induction motors, the recently launched C-series automation, and thruster assisted mooring workstations. Converteam also will act as the complete electrical integrator for the rigs, which will be classified to Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS).
