ATLANTA, Georgia -- GE Energy has acquired Sondex Plc, which now expands its capability and expertise in oil and gas drilling and wireline technology.
Sondex, headquartered in Hampshire, UK, specializes in the engineering and manufacture of directional drilling and formation evaluation systems and wireline tools for the production of oil and gas.
"The Sondex people, technology, and global relationships are an important addition to GE Energy's portfolio of businesses, complementing our existing exploration and production product line," says Brian Palmer, vice president of GE Energy's Optimization and Control business. "The company brings to us a broad range of advanced products and technologies, as well as a management team and employees with a deep understanding of the customers they serve. We expect the combination to form a technology growth platform for GE going forward."
According to GE Energy, it has served the oil and gas services sector with specialized equipment from its Reuter Stokes Measurement Solutions product lines plus equipment to enable oilfield service companies to navigate drill strings and to identify underground oil and gas reserves.
