HOUSTON -- Energy Cranes has acquired the assets of Marine & Mainland Crane Services Inc. The company is not disclosing price but says the multi-million dollar acquisition is the largest in its history. Energy Cranes says the deal doubles its share of the US offshore crane service market.

The acquisition adds 135 people to Energy Cranes' US workforce; no redundancies are planned and additional recruitment is ongoing. The company will now employ over 1,500 people worldwide. Alan Schaefer and Tim O'Neill, joint owners of Marine & Mainland, will join the Energy Cranes senior management team.

The deal also extends Energy Cranes facilities and service network. Marine and Mainland has facilities in Houston and in Broussard and Slidell, Louisiana. Energy Cranes LLC already has crane manufacturing, service, or rentals centers in Houston, Houma and Abbeville in Louisiana, and Mobile, Alabama.
