TEHRAN-- Iran provides the best option for gas purchases for countries in the Persian region, according to National Iranian Offshore Oil Co. Managing Director Mahmoud Zirakchianzade.

In an interview with Iran’s Petroenergy Network (Shana), he said that defining a gas price formula has been the main subject of NIOC’s talks with its neighbors concerning gas exports.

Many factors come into play in the drafting of this formula, he added, but negotiations were under way. He listed Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and the UAE as possible customers.

Zirakchianzade claimed that among the potential sources, Iran would supply gas to Oman via the offshore Kish field; to Bahrain via the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf; and to Kuwait via Iran’s sixth national network gas pipeline.
