Lundin Energy proposes name change to Orrön Energy

Lundin Energy AB is proposing a company name change to Orrön Energy AB, as part of the transition to a renewables-focused business.

The journey toward electrification of Lundin's main assets started in 2012 with the plan for development and operation of Edvard Grieg (pictured) in the North Sea. This included preparation for electrification of the facility to become operational as part of the Utsira High power from shore area solution, which also includes the Johan Sverdrup, Ivar Aasen, Gina Krogh and Sleipner fields.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Lundin Energy AB is proposing a company name change to Orrön Energy AB, as part of the transition to a renewables-focused business, according to a May 16 Lundin press release.

Orrön Energy will start trading as a debt-free business with three renewables assets in the Nordics and is positioned for growth, the company said.

The business will retain certain key members of Lundin Energy’s current board and management team.

The proposed name change is subject to shareholder approval at the upcoming EGM to be held on June 16. The name change is proposed to take effect July 1, following the completion of the transaction to combine Lundin Energy’s oil and gas assets with Aker BP, which is scheduled to be complete on June 30.
