ESBJERG, Denmark – MacArtney’s MERMAC R40 AHC winch will be onboard the ASN Ile de Class vessel, assisting Alcatel Submarine Networks with installation of seismic cables on the seafloor for Equinor’s Johan Castberg project in the Barents Sea.
The cables will be part of the field’s permanent 4D reservoir monitoring system.
The winch is designed for offshore work in weather conditions of minimum Hs (Significant Wave Height) of 3 m (9.8 ft) during launch, recovery and operations, and is fitted a right angle level wind.
It will be supplied with a Moog Focal combined electro optical slip ring. The active heave compensation should reduce the influence of wave movement on the touchdown monitoring system, MacArtney added, allowing the vessel to accurately position the seismic cables and sensors.
