OLDMELDRUM, UK – James Fisher Offshore (JFO) and First Subsea have teamed up to develop Internal Cut and Lift Technology (ICLT) for offshore decommissioning projects.

The development combines James Fisher’s abrasive jet cutting technique with First Subsea’s ball and taper internal lifting tools, including the Ballgrab gripping process, to provide what is claimed to be a simple, flexible and swift method for removing redundant subsea equipment and tubulars.

ICLT is due to be fully commercialized soon.

Greg Campbell-Smith, sales and business development director of First Subsea, said:

“Conductor, riser and pile removal requires multi-discipline teams of contractors. However, by teaming up with James Fisher Offshore, we can offer clients a single service provider who can perform cut and lift decommissioning operations in fewer operations, with less personnel.

“We see this as a big benefit to oil companies and contractors alike.”
