TOKYO – Production has started through the Prelude floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) vessel in block WA-44-L offshore Western Australia, according to partner INPEX.

The vessel will separate and liquefy gas produced from wells on the Prelude and Concerto fields 475 km (295 mi) north-northeast of Broome to produce liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and condensate.

All will then be directly loaded onto tankers for onward shipments.

Shell operates the project.
