LUXEMBOURG – Tullow Oil has awarded Subsea 7 and NOV Oil & Gas Services Ghana an EPCI contract for the Jubilee field FPSO offshore Ghana.
Subsea 7’s scope covers installation of the FPSO’s new buoy turret loading (BTL) system from APL, part of NOV Completion & Production Solutions, with associated suction piles and two offloading lines for the BTL and the additional hang-off platform and skid for the FPSO, which is moored in 1,000 m (3,281 ft) water depth.
Much of the fabrication will be completed in Ghana, with offshore installation due to take place in 2020.
AtJubilee, production has been averaging around 94,500 b/d of oil, according to Tullow’s partner Kosmos Energy. One new producer well came online during 3Q, with a second expected during the current 4Q.
The output from these wells, and enhancements to the gas handling capacity, should lift the field’s production toward the FPSO’s nameplate capacity of 120,000 b/d.
Kosmos also partners with Tullow in the nearby TEN development, where one new producer well at Ntomme came online in August.
Production should hold steady at around 70,000 b/d until year-end, when a second new producer well should come onstream, again raising production toward the FPSO nameplate capacity.
A second rig arrived in Ghana late last month and will be used for drilling, with the current rig set up for a continuous completion program. With rig rates still relatively low the partners aim to speed up drilling of new wells in Ghana, with the goal of maintaining gross production from Jubilee and TEN at respectively 180,000 to 200,000 b/d over the next three years.
Offshore Equatorial Guinea, Kosmos says it remains on track to produce 43,000 b/d this year. Installation of electrical submersible pumps to raise artificial lift capacity and enhance production should begin soon.
At the same time the company has been acquiring seismic over offshore blocks S, W, EG-21 and EG-24 and aims to process the data in order to high-grade prospects for drilling in 2019.
To the northwest, the company and its partner BP have submitted the first-phase unit development plan for theTortue LNG project offshore Senegal/Mauritania to the energy ministries of both countries.
All parties are working to achieve a final investment decision (FID) around year-end.
