PARIS – BP has commissioned TechnipFMC to perform front-end engineering design (FEED) for the FPSO for the Tortue/Ahmeyim field development.

This is an ultra-deepwater LNG project on the maritime border of Mauritania and Senegal.

Under the agreement, the contract could be converted to an engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) award contract at a later stage.

In the meantime, TechnipFMC will define the technology and equipment scope, and plans to draw on its experience with fabrication in China.

The initial subsea infrastructure will connect the first four wells through production pipelines to the FPSO. There liquids will be removed, and gas exported through a pipeline to the floating liquid natural gas (FLNG) hub terminal for liquefaction.

Tortue/Ahmeyim is in the C-8 block offshore Mauritania and the Saint-Louis Profond block offshore Senegal.

Kosmos Energy discoveredTortue and later farmed down its investment to BP, which now operates the project with a ~60% interest.
