DUBLIN, IrelandProvidence Resources and its partners have contracted Gardline to acquire a high-resolution 2D reflection seismic survey over parts of the FEL 614 license offshore southwest Ireland.

This will cover the crest of theNewgrange prospect while also providing data to support an application for the permitting of an offshore exploration well.

Gardline plans to mobilize theM/V Kommandor vessel, with acquisition set to start this summer, subject to regulatory consent.

The license area is in 1,000 m (3,281 ft) water depth, 260 km (161 mi) off the southwest coast.

At the same time, commercial discussions continue on a potential farm-out of equity in the license.

Dr. John O’Sullivan, technical director of Providence, said: “The Newgrange prospect provides significant stacked exploration potential at both Jurassic and Cretaceous levels with proven source, reservoir, and seal demonstrated in the previous off-structure 62/7-1 exploration well.

“The relatively shallow nature of the reservoir intervals also means that this data acquisition program may provide even further insight to de-risk the potential presence of hydrocarbons within the subsurface prior to drilling.”
