Boskalis acquires survey specialist Gardline

Royal Boskalis Westminster has acquired the UK-based Gardline Group for around £40 million ($51.55 million).

PAPENDRECHT, the NetherlandsRoyal Boskalis Westminster has acquired the UK-based Gardline Group, a specialist in marine geophysical and environmental surveys and offshore geotechnical services, for around £40 million ($51.55 million).

As a result,Boskalis can now offer specialist subsea geotechnical surveys to the renewables and early cyclical oil and gas markets.

Gardline operates 15 survey-related vessels and 25 smaller vessels, including crew transfer boats and survey catamarans. Its annual revenues are in the range of £60-70 million ($77-90 million).

The company, established in 1969, had been a family-owned business. Its main offices are in Great Yarmouth on the English North Sea coast, with other branches in the US, Brazil, and Singapore.

It employs roughly 750 personnel, including 100 surveyors. Its main market isnorthwest Europe, where it competes with Fugro for marine surveys.
