FORNEBU, Norway – Equinor (formerly Statoil) has awarded Aker Solutions a NOK1 billion-plus ($123-million) order for a module for the Troll A platform in the North Sea.

This will receive and process gas from the Troll West field, which will then head through a subsea pipeline to the Kollsnes gas processing complex near Bergen.

At peak the program will provide work for 500 employees in Bergen, Egersund, offshore Norway, and in Mumbai, India.

The EPCI contract is an option on thefront-end engineering and design work Aker Solutions won last September for Phase 3 of the Troll development.

In January, the company won the contract to provide thesubsea production systems and services.

Aker Solutions said that integrating the company’s capabilities in both subsea and topsides installations would help optimize the development and lower costs.

The Troll field, 65 km (40 mi) west of Kollsnes, holds around 40% of Norway’s offshore gas reserves. Production looks set to continue beyond 2050.
