OSLO, Norway – The first development well has been completed on the Tortue field in the Dussafu PSC offshore Gabon, according to partner Panoro Energy.

Drilling of theDTM-2H oil production well started in late January. Logging results suggest the well was consistent with the pre-drill prognosis and objectives.

It was completed as a horizontal producer in the Dentale D6 reservoir where it encountered a long horizontal section of oil-saturated Dentale D6 sandstone.

Additionally, while drilling through the shallower Gamba and upper Dentale reservoir section, the well intersected a gross 37-m (121-ft) hydrocarbon column including 28 m (92 ft) of net pay.

The well has been suspended ahead of hook-up to the FPSO later this year.

The rig will next drill the DTM-3 appraisal well on the northwest of the Tortue field, followed by the horizontal oil production well, DTM-3H, completed in the Gamba sandstone.

Drilling is set to continue until the end of June.
