Nord Stream 2 AG has contracted Kvaerner to construct onshore facilities for the planned twin Nord Stream 2 pipeline system in the Baltic Sea, taking Russian gas to European markets.

ZUG, SwitzerlandNord Stream 2 AG has contracted Kvaerner to construct onshore facilities for the planned twin Nord Stream 2 pipeline system in the Baltic Sea, taking Russian gas to European markets.

The contract value is more than NOK600 million ($71.86 million).

Kvaerner’s subsidiary Kvaerner LLC is contract partner for the work-related sections of the export landfall facilities in the St. Petersburg region.

Its scope covers civil works and foundations; procurement and installation of piping and valves for the pipe cleaning pig launch and receiver unit; installation of the roughly 2-km (1.2-mi) long adjacent pipeline onshore; and construction of permanent buildings for operation of the gas export plant.

Nord Stream 2 AG’s engineering contractor will design the installations.

Kvaerner LLC will perform its work in cooperation with local subcontractors and international suppliers.
