HIXON, UK – ALE has rigged and load tested what it claims is the world’s largest-capacity land-based crane, the AL.SK350, with a 354,000 tm load moment capacity.
The load test was in preparation for the crane’s first lifts on anFPSO module integration project in Brazil.
It has been rigged in its current biggest configuration, with a 49-m (161-ft) ballast radius and 4,000-ton ballast. The main boom is a 130-m (426-ft) long A-frame design on a stable, 18-m (59-ft) wide base.
The crane is equipped with a 4,000-ton main winch system and a 600-ton auxiliary quick winch system. A strand jack lifting system can be added for loads up to 5,000 tons.
The next FPSO module integration project will be inNigeria in the first half of 2017.
