Normand Valiant, a construction support vessel owned by Solstad Maritime, will continue supporting Petrobras production activities offshore Brazil under a new two-year contract.

Petrobras has contracted the Solstad Maritime-owned construction vessel Normand Valiant to support production activities offshore Brazil.

The two-year program should get underway in the fourth quarter, in direct continuation of the vessel’s current agreement and subsequent class renewal.

The extension underscores continued demand for offshore support vessels in Brazil, where Petrobras is advancing multiple deepwater developments and sustaining production from its prolific pre-salt assets. Construction support vessels such as Normand Valiant provide accommodation, maintenance and offshore logistics capabilities for production operations.

Normand Valiant has a walk-to-work gangway and accommodation for 120 personnel.

The contract is valued at about $62 million. Under the arrangement, the vessel will operate on a bareboat charter to Solstad Offshore, Petrobras' contract holder.
