Kongsberg Maritime wins power order for Brazil PSVs
Kongsberg Maritime will supply equipment for 10 new platform supply vessels (PSVs) under construction by Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding in China for Capital Offshore.
Each will feature an integrated electrical system, propulsion and energy controls.
Kongsberg Maritime’s Energy Storage System is designed to provide power for peak shaving, spinning reserve and power boost. The battery hybrid capability is said to allow vessels to run on a single engine with flexibility for engine selection, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
The propulsion system for each vessel will comprise two US 255 azimuth thrusters, a single ULE PM 155 retractable azimuth thruster and two TT2200 tunnel thrusters, all with permanent magnet motors.
The DC hybrid electrical power plant will include generators, DC-switchboard, transformers and an Energy Storage System.
