WILMSLOW, UK – Seadrill has awarded EM&I a master services agreement.

This agreement has already been exercised to place an order for a diverless-operated ODIN UWILD inspection system for the ABS-classed ultra-deepwater drillshipWest Jupiter, currently operating offshore Nigeria for Total.

Seadrill and ABS invited EM&I to visit the drillship while it was berthed in Las Palmas, with the contractor deploying its remote camera system NoMan and other equipment on site for test purposes.

According to an EM&I spokesman, it is too dangerous for divers to operate when drillships are in DP mode using thrusters. In addition, the moonpools are very turbulent areas, again rendering use of divers impractical.

The ODIN diverless UWILD and NoMan systems have been designed to address these problems, particularly for DP drillships and semis that are either in operation or warm stacked.

Previously the company completed ODIN projects for Pacific, Vantage, Ocean Rig, and Ensco.
