Talisman Energy has contracted a newbuild emergency response and rescue vessel from Craig Group for a five-year charter in the North Sea.

ABERDEEN, UK --Talisman Energy has contracted a newbuild emergency response and rescue vessel from Craig Group for a five-year charter in the North Sea.

TheGrampian Corsair is the sixth in a series of seven newbuilds ordered by Craig from the Astilleros Balenciaga shipyard in northern Spain, under an $80-million program. It will be 48.25 m (158.3-ft) long, with an 11.8 m (38.71-ft) beam.

The NSS-IMT 948-design vessel will initially provide standby support to Talisman's Auk and Fulmar installations in the UK northern North Sea. It will be equipped with two daughter craft and one fast rescue craft.
