HOUSTON -- Modec's FSO Cidade De Macae MV15 has finished sea trials and is en route to installation in 100 m (328 ft) water depth in the Campos basin offshore Brazil.
TheCidade De Macae MV15 will be part of the planned Petrobras designed production hub for multiple floating production units in the Campos basin.
TheCidade De Macae MV15 can receive up to 818,000 b/d of oil and has storage capacity of 2.150 MMbbl. The vessel will be installed in 100 m (328 ft) water depth. It will be part of one of the most sophisticated offshore oil distribution facilities in the world, the company says.
"We are very proud of this vessel," says Shashank Karve, president and CEO of MODEC International LLC. "She was converted from an ultra large crude carrier (ULCC) and is more than 420 m (1,378 ft) long ¿ one of the largest F(P)SOs in the world."
The FSOCidade De Macae MV15 is fitted with one of the largest external turrets ever constructed, Karve says, engineered and manufactured by Sofec.
