SHARJAH, UAE -- Japan Drilling Co. (JDC) has contracted Lamprell to upgrade and refurbish the jackup Sagadrill 2. The rig should arrive at Lamprell’s yard in Sharjah in April. The $11.8-million program is expected to take around three months to complete.

Lamprell’s Jebel Ali facility will build two interconnecting accommodation modules and a helideck, under a new $16.6-million contract from Saipem. The blocks will house 140 people working in the Caspian Sea.

Additionally, Lamprell has picked up a further $23.3 million of rig refurbishment contracts, which are being executed at the company’s Sharjah and Hamriyah Free Zone sites.
