GlobalSantaFe has signed agreements with BHP Billiton to extend the contracts of two of its drilling rigs in the US Gulf of Mexico for additional four-year terms worth a combined total contract value of approximately $1.5 billion.

HOUSTON – GlobalSantaFe has signed agreements with BHP Billiton to extend the contracts of two of its drilling rigs in the US Gulf of Mexico for additional four-year terms worth a combined total contract value of approximately $1.5 billion.
The semisubmersibleGSF Development Driller I is scheduled to begin work under its contract extension in June 2008. The drillship GSF C.R. Luigs contract extension is scheduled to begin in September 2009.
With the addition of the semis' contract extensions, the company's total revenue backlog has grown to approximately $11 billion from $4.8 billion at the start of 2006.
