Cargotec to supply cranes for subsea construction vessel

Kleven Maritime has ordered two cranes from Cargotec for a new subsea construction vessel being built for Eidesvik Offshore.

HELSINKI, Finland – Kleven Maritime has ordered two cranes from Cargotec for a new subsea construction vessel being built for Eidesvik Offshore.

MacGregor will supply a 400-metric ton (441-ton) active heave-compensated offshore crane with an outreach of 15 m (49 ft), and a winch installed below the working deck. The second, smaller crane will have a safe working load of 100 metric tons (110 tons) at 9 m (29.5 ft) outreach.

The cranes will be suited to for subsea deployments down to 3,000 m (9,842 ft) and for arctic operations.

The 145-m (476-ft) SALT 301 vessel was designed by Salt Ship Design, and is being built at Kleven Verft. There is an option for a sister ship for delivery in spring 2015.
