DMT Emerald earns ABS, Coast Guard certification

HOUSTON -- Testing of the DMT Emerald's 100-ton (91-metric ton) multi-purpose tower and winch has been completed, according to Deep Marine Technology. The equipment has been maximum load test certified by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and Coast Guard-approved for use, the company says

Specifications for the winch and tower include the ability to deliver:
- 100 tons from surface down to 5,000 ft (1,524 m)
- 75 tons (68 metric tons) down to 10,000 ft (3,048 m)

The 292-ft (89-m), DP IIDMT Emerald also includes a 100-ton knuckle boom crane, a moon pool, and accommodations for 73. The vessel is also outfitted with two 150 hp, 10,000 ft Triton XLS work class ROVs.
