FLORØ, Norway– Technip has named its latest pipelay vessel Deep Energy, at a ceremony at the Westcon yard in Norway.
The vessel arrived in Florø in October 2011, and sea trials have been completed recently after final outfitting and commissioning.
Deep Energy is designed to operate in the North Sea, the Atlantic basin, and on intercontinental projects. It is capable of taking on subsea developments from shallow to ultra-deepwater depths (up to 3,000 m or 9,842 ft). It has a service speed of 19.5 knots enabling fast transit between work sites.
The DP class 3 vessel is designed for subsea installation of reeled rigid pipe of up to 18-in. outer diameter, flexibles, umbilicals (including the steel tube variety), and various mid-line and end structures. It has a normal operating dynamic top tension of 450 tons, and is equipped with a pipeline end termination handling system.
