BP books PSVs for field support offshore Azerbaijan

BP has awarded vessel operator Topaz Energy and Marine two contracts to support development programs in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea.

DUBAI, UAE --BP has awarded vessel operator Topaz Energy and Marine two contracts to support development programs in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea.

Topaz has acquired two European-built, DP-2 platform supply vessels (PSVs) for the five-year contracts, valued at around $100 million. One is 3,300 metric ton (3,638 ton) dwt and the other is 4,000 metric ton (4,409-ton) dwt.

The boats will be deployed during the current quarter and in 2Q 2014 to support operations on theACG fields and the Shah Deniz 2 development.

Topaz now has a26-strong fleet size in Azeri waters. The company has been operating in the Caspian Sea since its acquisition of BUE Marine in 2005.
