ITAJAI, Brazil – The new Oceana Shipyard in the Santa Catarina region, Brazil, has delivered its first newbuild, a platform supply vessel of Ulstein’s PX105 design.
OwnerOceana Offshore took delivery last month, and on April 1, the CBO Oceanastarted a six-year charter for Petrobras.
A sister vessel is currently under construction at the yard, due for completion by mid-year.
PX105 is a large-PSV design. The vessels are 88.9 m (291 ft) long and 19 m (62 ft) wide with accommodation for 23 people. Their deadweight of 4,700 metric tons (5,181 tons) makes them compliant with Petrobras’ PSV 4500 tender.
The vessels are said to offer a high operational window and can take on complex assignments far from shore. The X-BOW hull line design is said to minimize slamming and abrupt stops from waves.
