SCHIEDAM, the NetherlandsGustoMSC received a Technical Innovation Award at the recent Offshore Jack-Up Middle East (OJME) conference in Dubai.

The “Rig Design” award was for the company’s light drilling jackup NG-3500X-LD, a cost-effective self-propelled workover jackup that can operate as a light drilling and well intervention rig in the offshore Middle East and Southeast Asian regions.

Many mature fields and infrastructure in these regions are characterized by deeper water and larger probable penetrations.

The NG-3500X-LD can operate in a water depth of up to 80 m (262 ft). Its X-Y skidding system is said to provide a wider drilling envelope and additional deck space.

Transverse reach with full combined cantilever load is also said to give the operator greater flexibility to perform drilling operations.

GustoMSC adds that the NG-3500X-LD is a safe, stable, and solid platform to work from being designed with survival capability in mind.

The rig can remain offshore even in adverse weather conditions, resulting in more workable days, higher efficiency, and reduced non-productive hours during operational charters.

Other features include an 8-knot top speed in transit and a high level of safety when making use of the VSD jacking system, GustoMSC claims.
