Sembawang lands Gina Krog FSO conversion

Teekay has contracted Sembawang Shipyard to convert the shuttle tanker Randgrid into a FSO vessel for Statoil’s Gina Krog field in the Norwegian North Sea.

SINGAPORETeekay has contracted Sembawang Shipyard to convert the shuttle tanker Randgrid into a FSO vessel for Statoil’s Gina Krog field in the Norwegian North Sea.

Major works under the $656-million contract will include installation of a new helideck; hull reinforcements; refurbishment of the submersible turret loading compartment; installation of an offshore crane, loading hose reel package and azimuth thruster; replacement of two generators; and associated piping and cabling works.

In addition, Sembawang will fabricate and install new living quarter decks on the vessel, which is due to arrive at the shipyard in June.

The program is expected to take 11 months to complete, after which theFSO Gina Krog will head to Norway for its charter contract between Teekay and Statoil.
