HOUSTON — ABS has issued approval in principle to MODEC subsidiary SOFEC’s new electric charging buoy development.
This is targeted at future-generation, fully-electric offshore crew transfer and support vessels.
SOFEC’s CALM buoy designs have historically integrated electrical power cable management solutions enabling vessels to moor alongside while using externally supplied power.
The electric charging buoy concept allows for modifications to the buoy designs to accommodate offshore electric power transfer from seaports or offshore wind farm substations to electric vessels.
