TAIPEI, Taiwan  Siemens Gamesa has signed two agreements with Hai Long Offshore Wind Project.

The turbine supply and service and availability deals cover a total of 1,044 MW from three offshore wind power projects in Taiwan.

Hai Long 2A (300 MW), Hai Long 2B (232 MW) and Hai Long 3 (512 MW) are also Siemens Gamesa’s largest offshore wind power signing in Taiwan to date, with a total of 73 SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbines set to be deployed. Terms include a 15-year service contract, extendable to 20 years.

The company will provide offshore logistics and the operations/maintenance service facilities for all three projects. Hai Long has granted Limited Notice to Proceed, with full Notice to Proceed and subsequent booking of the projects as a firm order expected next year.

The wind turbines will be installed 40 km to 50 km from the coast of Changhua County in water depths of 35 m to 55 m. Each will have a capacity of 14 MW and a rotor diameter of 222 m, using 108-m-long Siemens Gamesa IntegralBlades.

Last month the company committed to an expansion of its offshore nacelle assembly facility in Taichung, which will more than triple the plot area up to about 90,000 sq m, with new production halls constructed. The extended factory should start operating in 2024.

The Hai Long consortium is a partnership between Canadian power producer Northland Power and Taiwan-based developer Yushan Energy Co., jointly owned by Mitsui & Co. in Japan and Yushan Energy in Singapore.
