NORWICH, UKBW Energy has awarded Aquaterra Energy a $4.4-million contract for a project offshore Gabon.

The contract scope covers procurement, engineering, manufacture, installation, and commissioning support of conductor tensioning units for the conversion of the jackup Hibiscus Alpha to an offshore installation operating on the Dussafu Marin permit.

Aquaterra Energy will deploy its new digital tensioning monitoring system, which will remotely monitor the tension exerted on each riser via an app, sending real-time data on the tension tolerance to BW Energy staff offshore and onshore.

The instant alerting capability should assist safety, and the data will also allow staff to monitor asset fatigue over time.

Rig modifications and installation of the conductor tension units will take place in Dubai. Once the rig has been delivered to the offshore location, Aquaterra Energy will provide training and support to the local workforce.
