Harvey Gulf adds battery power to supply vessel

NEW ORLEANS – Harvey Gulf International Marine’s platform supply vessel Harvey Champion now operates on both battery power and diesel.
The company completed the conversion of the 310-ft (94-m) PSV to a dual-fuel vessel in February.
The Harvey Champion now boasts 754 kWh of battery power, which is expected to reduce emissions and the vessel’s fuel burn. It is the second of 10 vessels the company is upgrading with new battery power systems.
Upon completion of the conversion, the vessel immediately went to work for an oil and gas supermajor in the US.
