Suncor investigating fire on FPSO offshore Newfoundland

A fire broke out recently on the FPSO Terra Nova offshore Newfoundland, according to the Canadian Offshore Newfoundland & Labrador Petroleum Board.

ST JOHN’S, Canada – A fire broke out recently on the FPSO Terra Nova offshore Newfoundland, according to the Canadian Offshore Newfoundland & Labrador Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB).

According to operator Suncor Energy, the incident occurred on the low pressure separator. An emergency response fire team was quickly deployed to extinguish the fire using water and firefighting foam.

There is no gas or crude onboard the vessel, which has been shutdown for maintenance and is not producing at this time.

The C-NLOPB added that it was monitoring Suncor’s investigation of the incident.
