CALGARY, CanadaSuncor Energy is working on spending reductions at its offshore projects, the company said in its latest results statement.

Fields affected include Terra Nova and West White Rose offshore Newfoundland and the Fenja development in the Norwegian Sea.

Earlier this year Husky Energy, as operator of West White Rose, announced that the 2021 construction season would be cancelled with the project moved into safekeeping mode.

Suncor is conducting activities to keep the off-station Terra Nova FPSO quayside and to defer the planned asset life extension project until it can determine an economically viable path forward, along with a safe and reliable return to operations.

It is working with other parties to assess the best option for recover remaining resources from the Terra Nova field.
