Woodside, Talos charter Transocean ultra-deepwater drillships

STEINHAUSEN, Switzerland Transocean Ltd. has provided an update on its offshore drilling rig fleet.

Since October, the drilling contractor has added $366 million in contract backlog, bringing total backlog to $10.2 billion.

Spirit Energy has awarded the harsh environment semisubmersible Leiv Eiriksson a one-well contract offshore Norway. The contract is expected to run from June to July 2020, at a day rate of $225,000.

Also, ConocoPhillips awarded the Leiv Eiriksson a two-well contract, plus three one-well options offshore Norway. The contract is expected to run from July to November 2020, at a day rate of $225,000.

Equinor has exercised two one-well options for the harsh environment semi Transocean Norge offshore Norway.

Talos Energy has awarded the ultra-deepwater drillship Discoverer Inspiration a three-well contract, plus three one-well options in the US Gulf of Mexico. The contract is expected to run from April to July 2020, at a day rate of $210,000.

Beacon Offshore has awarded the ultra-deepwater drillship Deepwater Asgard an estimated 200-day contract, plus four 74-day options in the US Gulf of Mexico. The contract is expected to run from January to July 2020, at a day rate of $220,000. Beacon has exercised a 74-day option, which is expected to run from July to October 2020, at a day rate of $240,000.

BHP Billiton has exercised a one-year option for the ultra-deepwater drillship Deepwater Invictus in the US Gulf of Mexico.

An undisclosed operator has awarded the ultra-deepwater semi Development Driller III a one-year contract in Trinidad. The contract is expected to run from April 2020 to April 2021, at a day rate of $250,000.

Woodside has awarded the ultra-deepwater drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2 a 180-day contract, plus three one-well options in Myanmar. The contract is expected to run from October 2020 to April 2021, at a day rate of $250,000.

Petronas has exercised a 180-day option for the ultra-deepwater semi Deepwater Nautilus in Malaysia. This is expected to run from February to July 2020, at a day rate of $140,000.

In addition, the harsh environment semi Henry Goodrich was listed as idle.

Also, the drillship Deepwater Atlas on order from Sembcorp Marine’s subsidiary, Jurong Shipyard, has a contractual delivery date of Sept. 27, 2020.
