SLB OneSubsea completes Brazil all-electric subsea technology project
Why this news matters:
The project highlights continued industry efforts to electrify subsea production systems, which could improve reliability, increase operational flexibility, and reduce the infrastructure footprint of future deepwater developments.
SLB OneSubsea has completed the Brazil All-Electric Joint Industry Project, a collaboration with TotalEnergies, Equinor, bp and Chevron aimed at advancing fully electric subsea production technologies for deepwater developments in water depths of up to 3,000 m.
The project qualified electric components and control systems while demonstrating an integrated architecture linking subsea equipment, electric well completions, topside controls and digital systems.
By replacing traditional hydraulic actuation with electric systems, the technology could simplify subsea infrastructure, reduce system complexity and support longer tiebacks, remote fields and increasingly autonomous offshore operations, OneSubsea reported.
The project builds on more than 15 years of subsea electrification experience and is intended to support future commercial deployment of fully electric subsea production systems.
