TechnipFMC wins ‘significant’ flexible pipe contract for Azule Energy project offshore Angola

TechnipFMC says that it has been awarded a “significant contract” by Azule Energy to supply flexible flowlines and risers for the West Hub Tails project, an extension of the Block 15/06 Agogo Integrated Development offshore Angola.

For TechnipFMC, a “significant” contract is valued between $75 million and $250 million.

Under the award, TechnipFMC will design and manufacture flexible flowlines, risers, and associated equipment to gather production from the West Hub area and consolidate it into the Agogo FPSO vessel. The award will be included in inbound orders in the third quarter of 2026.

West Hub Tails project

The West Hub Tails project is an expansion of the Agogo Integrated West Hub (Agogo IWH) development in Block 15/06 in the deepwater Lower Congo Basin, approximately 180 km offshore Angola. Operated by Azule Energy (the 50/50 joint venture between bp and Eni), the broader Agogo IWH fully develops the Agogo and Ndungu fields.

Key project details include:

  • Combined estimated reserves of approximately 450 million barrels of oil.
  • Targeted peak production of around 175,000–180,000 barrels of oil per day, supported by the Agogo FPSO (capacity ~120,000 bopd) and the existing Ngoma FPSO.
  • Water depths typically ranging from about 800–1,700 meters in the area.
  • Partners are Azule Energy (~36.84% interest and operator), Sonangol E&P (~36.84%), and Sinopec International (~26.32%).

The main Agogo IWH project was sanctioned (FID) in February 2023 and achieved first oil in July 2025—roughly 29 months later—marking a notably fast-track deepwater development. Production from Ndungu full-field also ramped up in early 2026. The Agogo FPSO features electrified systems and a pilot carbon capture unit, contributing to lower operational emissions.

Azule Energy, formed in 2022 from the combination of bp and Eni’s Angolan upstream interests, is Angola’s largest independent oil and gas producer. It operates 11 blocks in the country (with interests in additional licenses) and continues to expand production through projects such as Agogo IWH and the recently sanctioned Greater PAJ development in Blocks 31 and 31/21.

TechnipFMC says that this latest award builds on the company’s prior flexible pipe and related work for earlier phases of the Agogo development, reinforcing an ongoing partnership in Angola’s deepwater sector.
