Eni signs subsea co-operation development with IDS
Eni and Fincantieri’s unmanned subsea systems developer Ingegneria dei Sistemi (IDS) have signed a strategic agreement concerning Eni’s underwater robotics technology Clean Sea. The technology is designed to monitor subsea infrastructure and marine environments.
Under the agreement, IDS will hold an exclusive license for commercialization and industrial development of the technology for subsea inspections and energy transition initiatives, including carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.
IDS will be able to deploy Clean Sea to support Eni's needs and those of third parties.
Clean Sea’s hybrid ROV/AUV architecture allows it to be controlled remotely from a support vessel or in full autonomous mode. The technology’s e-pods (interchangeable modular payloads) combine instruments and sensors for underwater tasks such as water sampling, detailed visual analysis, and 3D acoustic reconstructions.
The technology will be integrated with autonomous platforms and unmanned systems developed by Fincantieri.
